The Bleeding iPad

If you look below this post, you’ll see a bunch of articles that we posted in January of 2010 before the iPad launched later that April.  No one could truly appreciate the device without having it in their hands, and no one expected the developers to deliver the incredible applications that we’ve seen over the past 9 months. So we all made fun of it. A lot.

My how the iTides have turned.  The iPad is the most successful tablet device ever made. Everyone I know has one or has used one. I have one.  Hell.. I have an iPhone 4 and an Apple TV too… and I’m going to be standing in line next Friday to get the iPad 2 as well (just like I’ll be doing when the iPhone 5 is released).  So for a change, I’m going to publish this article which has no punch line, no snide remark.

Congratulations Apple.  You’ve defined an entire market.  Again.

iPods defined the MP3 marketplace.

iPhone reinvented the smartphone marketplace.

iPad completely dominates the tablet marketplace and all but destroyed the netbook market.

It’s truly the best time to be an iOS device owner. The best mobile apps and games are on iOS.

iPad 2. Faster, dual core processor.  9x the graphics power, HDMI out, front and rear cameras, incredible design, awesome looking cover accessory, and more.
Thanks Apple.  I’ll be sure to take care of my iPad 2 until you can get me an iPad 3 to replace it.

You mean this site could have been around for years?! Turns out Fujitsu released the first iPad in 2002. Let’s also remember that the name iPhone was also someone else’s trademark…seriously Apple – there are plenty of names that are original…go get one. I still think that if you’re serious about shattering the records just call it the iShat and we’ll stop making fun of the name of your products:) Ok but getting back to it, the description of the iPad (no the original, not the carbon copy) has a bunch of the soundbites we’re still hearing today. Yup ‘radically changed’, ‘The iPAD goes anywhere – to do virtually anything’ ‘Fujitsu’s iPAD features a bright, color touch-screen that works both inside the store and in bright sunlight.’ ‘VoIP phone capability’ and ‘Bright, color touch-screen’. And seriously, they look identical! Well except the original iPad had a keyboard and worked as a phone so it’s clearly the better of the two devices:)
